The 100 most influential companies list for 2023

Media publications love releasing lists for many reasons, but here are the top 3:

1. They can establish authority on the topic the list represents by owning the authoritative annual list as an example.
2. While a protocol can be used and shared as to how the list was compiled, at the end of the day it's really just an opinion of that publication and cannot be challenged legally.
3. Humans love lists and it makes it for great clickbait and increases the probability of it going viral.

With that in mind, Time has been a leader in authoring annual lists for decades. They recently released their list of the top 100 most influential companies. Time shares that the advancement of AI technology in 2023 has been a key trend in the inclusion and placement of companies in this year’s list:

Recently, Huang’s company, Nvidia, which makes the hardware powering this revolution, was valued at over $1 trillion. This year’s list, which again includes Nvidia, shows the power of this vision. Accomplishments in AI earned spots for more than a dozen companies, up from five a year ago. Perhaps most visible among them is OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman. Their ChatGPT program has rocketed in popularity, hitting 100 million active users in two months. (It took Instagram 2½ years).
